Overview

Introduction

The OPITO Certified Competence Assessor Program equips professionals with the knowledge and skills to assess workplace competence effectively and in compliance with OPITO standards. Participants learn to plan, conduct, and evaluate assessments using evidence-based methods, ensuring fair and consistent competency evaluations. Through practical exercises, case studies, and field assessment simulations, participants gain the confidence to verify skills, provide constructive feedback, and uphold high standards in competency assessment.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain competency concepts, assessment principles, and the OPITO framework.
  • Develop job competence profiles, perform gap analysis, and plan assessments.
  • Apply knowledge and skill assessment methods fairly and effectively.
  • Collect, evaluate, and record assessment evidence using recognized standards.
  • Provide constructive feedback, manage assessment records, and coordinate with internal verifiers.

  • Competence Foundations & Gap Identification – Competency levels, gap analysis, and job competence profiling
  • Competency Assessment Process – Assessment principles, roles, methods, and evidence selection
  • Knowledge & Skill Assessment – Designing questions, field assessment checklists, and evidence collection
  • Evidence Evaluation & Assessment Decisions – Using VARCS framework, decision making, and reporting
  • Verification, Field Assessment & Certification – Internal verification, OPITO compliance, dispute handling, and final certification

Certification

All participants will be provided with a program completion certificate from TRACEZ on satisfying the following conditions:

  • 100% Attendance in The Class and Involvement in Group Discussions
  • Submission Of Continuous Assessment (Individual Exercise and Group Exercise)
  • Successful Completion of the end of course assessment
  • Initial Training Certificate (TRACEZ/OPITO) upon 100% attendance, continuous assessment submission, and course-end assessment success.
  • Certified Competence Assessor Certificate (OPITO) upon successful completion of field assessment for two candidates on two assessment units each, with submission of required evidence as per OPITO standards.
