Design, Operation & Maintenance of Fiscal Metering Systems

Overview

Introduction

This 5-day advanced program provides participants with comprehensive knowledge of fiscal metering systems used in oil, gas, and energy operations. It focuses on the principles, design, operation, calibration, and maintenance of flow measurement systems to ensure accuracy, compliance, and reliability. Participants will gain insights into metering standards, uncertainty analysis, and system integrity management, combining theoretical and practical approaches through case studies and field-based exercises.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this training course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of fiscal metering and flow measurement.
  • Apply international standards for design and compliance.
  • Operate and maintain metering systems for optimal accuracy.
  • Diagnose and correct metering system errors.
  • Conduct calibration and verification procedures effectively.

Main Modules

  1. Principles of fiscal metering and flow measurement
  2. International standards (API, AGA, ISO, OIML) and compliance
  3. Design and selection of flow meters (turbine, ultrasonic, Coriolis, etc.)
  4. Metering skids, instrumentation, and control systems
  5. Calibration, verification, and uncertainty analysis
  6. Data acquisition and flow computation systems
  7. Operation, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
  8. Case studies and practical applications

Certification

All participants will be provided with a program completion certificate from TRACEZ on satisfying the following conditions:

  • 100% attendance in the class and involvement in group discussions
  • Submission of continuous assessment (individual exercise and group exercise)
  • Successful completion of the end of course assessment
